Create a Shot List Before You Generate

By Carivio AI ·

A shot list turns a vague creative idea into a small set of decisions. It is especially useful when several clips must work together, because you can spot repetition before you spend time generating it.

A practical approach

  1. For each shot, write its purpose, subject, framing and movement. A useful entry reads: introduce the product, medium shot, bottle on desk, slow push-in.
  2. Mark what must stay consistent across shots. Note the product color, main light direction and background palette. Keep these details in a reusable brief beside your prompts.
  3. Set a stopping rule. Decide which shots are essential and what would justify a replacement. This helps prevent an endless search for slightly different versions of the same image.

An example to adapt

Use this as a creative brief, then adjust it to your own subject and the controls available in your chosen tool.

Opening shot: a single notebook on a quiet studio desk. Medium framing with the complete notebook visible. Soft daylight from the right, muted cream and brown palette, a slow forward camera move.

Before you publish

Read the list as a sequence. Each shot should add context, detail or a conclusion. Remove any entry that has no clear job before you start generating.
