Composition
Choose the Right Image for a Mobile Thumbnail
A thumbnail has very little room to communicate. An image that feels rich on a desktop can become a collection of indistinct shapes when it appears in a small card on a phone.

A practical approach
- Choose a strong silhouette and a clear focal point. One recognizable product against a controlled background is often easier to read than a complex lifestyle scene.
- Keep important details away from the edges. Different layouts may crop the image, so leave enough room around the product to preserve its identity.
- Use contrast deliberately. Separate the subject from its background with tone or light rather than adding several bright accents that all compete for attention.
An example to adapt
Use this as a creative brief, then adjust it to your own subject and the controls available in your chosen tool.
A single matte-white speaker centered against a muted dark-blue background, strong clean outline, soft edge lighting, generous margin around the product, no tiny props or text.
Before you publish
Preview the image at the actual card size. If you need to zoom in to understand what it shows, simplify the composition before making more variations.
